      About This Juneau Tour

America's Last Frontier is adrenaline-pumping country – and this eco-adventure is one of the biggest rushes out there. Picture yourself swooping out, hooting into the sky, feeling just like a wild eagle soaring over the spectacular rainforest. The experience is intense, the panorama is sensational – and you are euphoric. This is Juneau's peak adventure.

This "thrillpack" delivers each of the boldest activities. It begins when you board a high-speed craft to zoom across scenic Gastineau Channel to Douglas Island and the fascinating old Treadwell Mine site. There you hop on a 4x4 off-road vehicle and climb high up the densely forested hillside to the first zipline platform. Now you enter the fly zone!

Take the ultimate leap of faith as you go swinging, swooping, zipping, and dipping through the treetops of the Sitka spruce forest. Thrill to the lush beauty of the rainforest, jaw-dropping views of Bullion Creek, and intriguing traces of Gold Rush days – all spectacular sights that only treetop explorers like you will ever see.

Every one of your senses is heightened after the last zipline, yet the excitement goes on as you rappel into base camp. Catch your breath, kick back with a well-earned snack, take in fabulous Juneau vistas, and celebrate your new zip-master skills with a medal. That's a cool keepsake, but it's even cooler to know how fast and how far your spirit of adventure can take you.

      A fortune in the forest

As you speed over the wilderness, you'll glimpse its Gold Rush past. Treadwell Mine was among the world's largest, in its heyday from the late 1800s to early 1900s. A disastrous 1917 tunnel cave-in flooded the mine, shooting water 200 feet in the air from its entrances. The mine was done, but prospector John Treadwell had done well for himself. The adventurous Canadian carpenter had pulled about $66 million in gold from his mine.
