About This Ketchikan Tour
This is a fishing adventure exclusively for you. The type of fishing adventure that will make the whole crew happy, even if not everyone is into fishing. You get to decide how the day will take shape, and what you get to do.
Start by choosing what kind of fish you'd like to go after. Halibut? Salmon? Both? No problem. Maybe you'd like to put out some crab pots while you're fishing. Or maybe you see an island beach off the narrows that you want to check out, or laze away at a secluded cove the captain knows about.
It's your call.
Your ride is a 24-foot cabin cruiser with a 225-horsepower outboard, so you can get where you want to go fast. And there's a good chance of spotting humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, sea lions, and seals.
Head for shore and do some exploring, keeping your eyes peeled for bald eagles and other seabirds that make their home on the southeast Alaska coast.
As the day winds down you get to decide whether to enjoy your catch at our camp in the woods or back in Ketchikan, at the famous Alaska Fish House. Either way, a gourmet chef will create something delightful out of it, exclusively for you.
A salmon by any other name still smells like salmon
Five different types of salmon are found in Ketchikan, and each has an alias that more readily identifies it. Chinooks are called king because they're the largest. The coho has silvery sides, so it's known as silver. A sockeye turns scarlet when it's ready to spawn, so it's called red. Male pink salmon develop a big hump behind their heads: hence, humpy. And chum salmon have large, canine-like teeth, so they're a.k.a. dog salmon.
Please make your way to Alaska Fish House at 3 Salmon Landing, Salmon Landing Market) or at your ship's gangway to meet your guide.
The 24 ft. cabin cruisers have a max capacity of six passengers per boat. All of the guides work well together and are happy to fish along side one another for large groups travelling together.
To get to our private marina there is a ramp that can be flat at our highest tide and quite steep at the lowest tide. There are hand rails and our friendly staff to assist guests.
We are happy to accommodate wheelchairs/scooters if travelers are able to be easily escorted. If you choose to go ashore at our camp or another secluded beach, you will be walking over rocky and sometimes slippery terrain.
