      About this Kailua-Kona, Hawaii tour

Like something out of a Dr. Seuss storybook, the beaches in Hawaii range from green to black to your typical white sand beach. On this adventure you get to see one of the most spectacular black sand beaches in the world, sure to blow your mind! The day begins with a trip up the Kilauea Volcano, the world's most active volcano, and a stop at the Jagger Museum with its breathtaking panoramic view of the caldera and active monitoring equipment.

You'll take a quick break for a no-host lunch at the Lava Rock Café, and then you're off for a cruise through Hilo Town to enjoy the vast fields of vibrant orchids and anthuriums. Next up is a stop at the Akatsuka Nursery and Big Island Candies where you'll get a taste of their famous chocolate-dipped macadamia nut shortbread cookie. Locally sourced, these prized nuts are the key ingredient for this overly indulgent treat.

Candy fix taken care of its time to head to the Punaluu Black Sand Beach where Green Sea turtles bask in the sunlight. You will want to have your camera handy for this part; seriously this beach is like nothing you’ve ever seen. Looking down the Hamakua you can see Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano that rises 13,7986 ft. above sea level. If you’re looking for the ultimate stranger than fiction nature tour then you’ve found it! Black sand, million year old dormant volcanoes, active volcanoes and rock formations straight out of a Lord of the Rings movie can all be seen on this unforgettable Kona adventure.

      Cows gone wild

The Parker Ranch, founded in the early 1800s, predates mainland ranches by more than 30 years. The cattle were originally given as gifts to the king in 1788, but were left to run rampant on the island. When John Palmer Parker arrived, the king was happy to have his help ridding the island of these feral animals, and granted him exclusive rights to provide meat and leather to the people.
