About This New Orleans Tour
The bars on boozy Bourbon Street aren't the only place where spirits run freely. Strolling the streets of the elegant Garden District, you may have a strange sense that something's just a little "off." Sure, this neighborhood known as the "American" section of town is charming. But don't be fooled. There may be specters moving through leafy gardens and phantoms prowling among the architectural splendor…
This city along the meandering Mississippi has endured a dark and tortured past. Once a vast swamp, it was used by Indians as a sacred burial place. Then the region was populated by murderers, thieves, and criminals exiled here from Europe. Life was hard in the Big Easy then. Think quicksand, alligators, venomous snakes, mosquitoes, and disease.
Over the years, the city has been tormented by major fires, wars, yellow fever, and hurricanes. Death has been this city's constant companion, giving rise to nefarious characters, strange local folklore, and weird voodoo practices. With this tragic and supernatural heritage, it's no wonder unsettled souls linger around every corner.
You'll encounter and experience all the scary stories about ghosts and hauntings lurking in these outwardly charming streets. This adventure reveals why New Orleans is America's most haunted city. And it will separate the bold from the fearful. But if you end up feeling a bit shaken, no worries. Just head for Bourbon Street and revive yourself with the spirits over there.
