About this New Orleans, Louisiana tour

Located in a building standing since the 1720s, The Court of Two Sisters manages to meld historical significance, with modern day food options and unique Jazz ensembles that can only be found in New Orleans. Originally, the location on Royal Street was home to governors and aristocrats like the “Grand Marquis”, an eccentric and flamboyant governor of colonial Louisiana. He is often credited with turning New Orleans into what it is today, complete with its love of music and French-Creole influences.

There is plenty of history at 613 Royal Street, but The Court of Two Sisters also brings in its own modern flair and appeal. You’ll first be ushered into a beautiful courtyard that will herald you back to days long past. Lamp posts, unique brick flooring, and an “out of the way’ vibe awaits you as you move through the courtyard and enter the eatery.

Once inside you’ll experience the daily, and famed Jazz brunch, brought to you by some of the areas most renowned and beloved musicians. While the music plays, you will enjoy over sixty delectable dishes that change with the season. Locally sourced food is priority here, so expect the menu to change depending on what is locally available. What you are sure to get is creole food like you’ve never experienced before. Creole food is a true mishmash of different cultures, pulling in influences from France, the West Indies, Caribbean and Portugal for a unique flavor explosion. Devour oysters Rockefeller, jambalaya and dirty rice all in the same sitting. Yum! On your departure don’t let your food coma make you forget to touch the charmed gates. Legend has it they are blessed, and will pass on good fortune to all those who touch it.

      The Grand Marquis

Marquis De Vaudreil, served as the governor of French Louisiana from 1743 until 1753. The governor, affectionately dubbed The Grand Marquis, is often credited with turning New Orleans marshlands into a tiny, Parisian paradise. He was long considered “too Canadian” by French authorities because of his lengthy stay in the great white north, while he ruled, prior to the Seven Years' War. The war eventually led to British forces taking over the colony, but much of the Grand Marquis work remained intact.
