About This New York Tour
Manhattan is a big place, packed with iconic buildings, parks, and memorials. It's also an island, with a harbor through which millions of immigrants and visitors have passed under Lady Liberty's watchful gaze.
Seeing the city from dry land alone only tells part of its story. For the whole picture, you need to cover NYC by land and by sea. And, conveniently, that's what this tour does.
Add the luxury of state-of-the-art wheels, a professional NYC guide, priority cruise boarding, and an itinerary that includes a who's who of essential sights –and you're onto something absolutely amazing.
In the space of just six hours, you'll see and visit many of the landmarks that define New York. The financial hub of Wall Street, and the glamorous fashion boutiques of Fifth Avenue. Sprawling urban green spaces like Central Park and Madison Square Park, and the historic quays and eclectic eateries at South Street Seaport. Enjoy many photo stops along the way.
The classic elegance of Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Terminal, and the Empire State Building, and the sleek modern sheen of Trump Tower and Time Warner Center.
The solemn ground of the 9/11 Memorial, and the soaring optimism of the new One World Trade Center just next door.
Out in the harbor, you'll be inspired by views of the grand entrance to the world's greatest city, as seen by countless passengers aboard cruise liners now and in the past. With the Statue of Liberty as focal point and the incomparable NYC skyline as backdrop, this visual always packs a punch –no matter how many times you see it.
A history of violence
One of the most statuesque of all NYC harbor sights, the Brooklyn Bridge has claimed more than a few lives during its history. Many on its construction crew became seriously ill – or died – from breathing compressed air for long periods as they labored deep under the East River inside caissons (footings) that still hold up the bridge's towers today. And within days of the span's 1883 opening, traffic deaths began to occur even though the load was mostly horse-drawn and pedestrian. Thank goodness they weren't texting, too.
