Madame Marie wasn't just the fortune teller in a Bruce Springsteen song. Madame Marie Tussaud was the world's most famous creator of wax figures. While the Frenchwoman certainly wasn't the first to make lifelike figures out of wax or even the first to establish a wax museum more than 200 years after Tussaud's heyday, her name lives on here in the Big Apple at an attraction where you make your own A-list moments and memories.

Ever see Vincent Price's "House of Wax" or even the icky Paris Hilton remake? Those wax figures looked so real because they were actual people killed and coated in wax. At Madame Tussauds, though, the artistry is real and often based on sittings with the celebs depicted. Each wax figure takes about four months to complete and costs close to $125,000. And the attention to detail is amazing, including the use of real human hair.

You can also learn about history and culture or have your kids learn at Madame Tussauds. Albert Einstein, the Clintons, the Royal Family, Maya Angelou, and Malcolm X are just some of the many wax figures at the attraction. The all-access GoBe attraction features escapism, too. At the Marvel Super Heroes 4D Experience, you can see your favorite comic stars and watch a film with in-theater special effects like wind, snow, and scent.

You'll see these astonishingly detailed wax figures up close and personal. And the interactive exhibits are way beyond some ho-hum set. Like sports? Challenge Carmelo Anthony in a little game of one-on-one basketball, or pose for a selfie with Serena Williams. Love music? Dance along to tunes from stars like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga and see your image on the big screen. There's even an opening night party for you and all your new A-list friends like Angelina Jolie and George Clooney.

      Wax accuracy

Wax artists go to extreme lengths to make sure that their creations are hard to distinguish from the real thing. The artists take over 250 measurements and photographs for each subject. In some cases, actual celebrity possessions are used on figures, after being acquired through donation or auction.
