      Niagara Falls Helicopter Ride

      Niagara Falls, New York, USA
From (USD) $144 Per Adult / $89 Per Child
      • Bell 407 helicopter: Equipped with huge panoramic windows and a nimble 4-blade rotor system, this is the chopper that was made to tour Niagara Falls.
      • Whirlpool rapids: Some of the most powerful currents in the world rip and roar below you, fiercely churning white foam and mist.
      • Rainbow Bridge: Using the mist from the falls as her canvas, Mother Nature paints vivid strokes of color here in the afternoon sun.
      About this Niagara Falls tour

      It starts slowly.

The gentle hum of the helicopter's engine begins picking up, gradually getting louder. You feel a slight lurch as your chopper takes off. The ground below you starts creeping past, steadily getting faster and faster as you rise into the air until the green fields and tiny figures and objects on them begin rushing away.

The rotors are firing on all cylinders now, melting into a high-speed throbbing above you. But as you come up on the majestic blue waters of the Niagara River below, sound quickly becomes less important than the stunning sights before you.

Just beyond the window of your helicopter is the natural beauty of one of the world's most awe-inspiring works of art. You can see it all: How the falls connect to the basin, the bustling cities on either side, and of course, the angrily churning currents powerful enough to haunt the nightmares of even the most experienced kayakers.

Soaring over the Rainbow Bridge and following the curve of the colossal Horseshoe Falls, one thing is clear: No matter what magnificent works humans produce, Mother Nature's artistry always has the upper hand.

      The Honeymoon is Over

The predecessor to the Rainbow Bridge was called the Honeymoon Bridge, because of its popularity with newlyweds. But, all good things must come to an end. And, in January of 1938, the forces of nature ended the honeymoon. A combination of unusually cold temperatures and an abnormal 9-foot high Niagara River caused an ice buildup that was too heavy for the bridge to bear; it was hurled away to a watery grave the next day.
