      About this Philadelphia, Pennsylvania tour

Along its banks, from bridge to bridge and beyond, this fun cruise takes you into the heart of lively Philadelphia. If this is your first time seeing Philly from the river – or viewing its glittering skyline at night – the Spirit of Philadelphia is an amazing way to experience this celebrated city. Get ready to sail into an evening of entertainment, great dining, and fabulous sights.

As the sun sets, help yourself to the Grand Buffet. Choose from an array of fresh salads, select from entrees that include Oven Roasted Salmon and Tilapia, Chicken Parmesan Meatballs, Beef Short Ribs, and more. And save room for the tempting selection of pastries, brownies, and fresh fruit. The backdrop for this dinner is historic: America's first capital at the time the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776.

This is a city of firsts. In Philadelphia, the Stars and Stripes stitched by Betsy Ross first flew proudly, and the city boasts America's first school, hospital, zoo, newspaper, and more. On this cruise, you'll see the country's first shot tower where ammunition was made for the War of 1812 and the Civil War. You'll pass The Navy Yard, the country's first naval shipyard begun in 1776, now a magnet for new businesses and development.

Among the skyscrapers, see if you can spot the 36-story PSFS Building (now Loews Philadelphia Hotel). It's renowned as the USA's first modern skyscraper. This is Philly, and if ever a city deserved an audience, this is it. And cruising on the Spirit of Philadelphia, you've got the best seat in town.

      The "Nation's Church"
Just south of Ben Franklin Bridge, you'll glimpse where Ben went to church. So did George Washington, Betsy Ross, John Penn, and other famous Revolution-era types. The church, started in 1727, has an impressive steeple that was financed by a lottery Franklin organized. Although Philadelphia's skyline dwarfs the steeple today, it stood proudly as the tallest structure in the colonies for 56 years.
