      About this Philadelphia, Pennsylvania tour

Even before you come aboard, you know it's going to be a great afternoon. You're departing from Penn's Landing on the historic Delaware River. Yes, this is where William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, first came ashore in 1682.

Several historic ships are moored at Penn's Landing, including a Spanish-American War-era cruiser, a World War II submarine, and the cute little tugboat Jupiter, first launched in 1902. While all have plenty of nautical appeal, a sleek and deluxe yacht steals the show. This is your vessel, the Spirit. Step aboard and discover its elegant interior decor, colorful LED lighting, and the largest outdoor patio deck in the city.

Find a seat, order your favorite libation, and explore the ship. As she pulls away from the dock, grab your streamers and drinks and join Spirit entertainers in a festive bon voyage toast. The onboard atmosphere is fun and the sights are fantastic. You'll cruise under landmark bridges, view the impressive skyline, and pass famous places like Red Bank Battlefield that defended the river against the British during the Revolutionary War.

Help yourself to the Grande Buffet featuring an array of fresh salads and entrees that include Oven roasted salmon and tilapia, chicken parmesan meatballs, maple and mustard glazed pork loin, and more, followed by a selection of pastries, brownies, and fresh fruit. An entertaining narration accompanies lunch, and afterwards you can relax, listen to music, and dance. If William Penn were onboard, he might even be tempted to celebrate with a jig or a reel.

      An enduring city moniker

When William Penn founded Pennsylvania, he wanted a capital that avoided crowded conditions like London's. So he designed Philadelphia's city plan with large plots, five major squares, and streets wider than any major thoroughfare in London. He named his new city by combining the Greek words for love (phileo) and brother (adelphos), bestowing its centuries-old nickname: the City of Brotherly Love.
