About this San Francisco, California tour
Over 1,100 acres can be tough to traverse by foot alone.
So we don't recommend you try. Instead, climb aboard an agile Segway, where you'll quickly get acquainted with the controls and steering so that you can easily glide through Golden Gate Park, which is 20 percent larger than New York's Central Park.
You'll see the picturesque lakes where ducks and other local wildlife go to relax. At Stow Lake, check out the colorful pagoda, originally built in China and now overlooking one of the park's two waterfalls.
For a more floral type of beauty, breeze past the Rose Garden, where more than 60 different rose beds are creatively positioned to provide a gorgeous view for onlookers. The colorful roses change seasonally, and because they bloom twice a year you can even take in a dazzling show during the winter months.
This park enshrines the beauty of cultures far beyond the city itself. To ensure you learn all the most interesting bits of its history, your expert tour guide will provide helpful narration that segues (sorry, we couldn't resist) from one fascinating topic to the next.
Who would have thought that you could experience so much of the world right here in San Francisco?
Giants in San Francisco
At Golden Gate Park's Redwood Grove, you'll enjoy shade that's usually reserved for those folks a little more to the north. Redwood trees, which are the tallest living organisms on Earth, have been around almost as long as the dinosaurs: 240 million years, to be precise. Though the ones here are only about a century old, along the coast of California some Redwoods have been around for over 2,200 years.
Please meet at the paved area directly behind the Sprekels Temple of Music in the Golden Gate Park Music Concourse: 82 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive.
You will be required to take the 35-40 minute training and test ride. Please respect road signs, pedestrians, bikes and cars for a safe and enjoyable ride.
