      About this Skagway, Alaska tour

A helicopter ride followed by your own personal dog entourage? Yes please! There are some experiences that you simply cannot have anywhere else, but Alaska. This is one of them.

Start your day off in the air as you gaze down on the untouched hidden glacier valleys, stunning natural waterfalls, and towering ice-capped mountains that almost look like guards protecting their surroundings. After you’ve come to appreciate natural beauty on a new level, you will land at the largest sub-arctic Dog Camp operation in the world, where you will be welcomed by wagging tails and cold noses.

Dog sledding was born out of necessity in order for the natives to get around in the harsh snow covered terrains of the Alaskan wilderness. While these dogs are adorable, they also serve a purpose so don’t get too attached, you won't be able to take your furry chauffeurs back with you.

Once you’re all trained up, and have had your fill of cuddles (if this is possible), it’s time to control your own team of dogs. Feel the wind rush through your hair as you navigate the Denver Icefield, and get a true taste of wild Alaska. Questioning your doggy driving skills? No problem; let the experts do the driving while you take in the scenery.

When you finally manage to tear yourself away from your new Husky companions, it’s time to load into the helicopter that will take you back to the departure point. It’s not every day you get to see these amazing views not once, but twice! Reflect on your day, work on your pitch to convince the family to get a Husky, or simply relax and enjoy the ride back.

      Where is Balto?

In 1925, the remote village of Nome experienced a deadly diphtheria outbreak. With no serum on hand, the village’s lone doctor sent an urgent message to Anchorage. The solution? An epic 674-mile round-the-clock dogsledding expedition to get the serum to Nome before any more lives were lost. The journey was successful, limiting the outbreak to just five deaths. The dogs became media sensations, so much so that the lead dog – Balto – got his very own statue in Central Park.
