About this St. Augustine, Florida tour
That chill up your spine? It's not someone pressing a frosty mug into your back. Those sounds you're hearing? It's not the beer talking. We don't tell ghost stories; we tell ghost facts. And there's plenty to tell, because you're walking through one of the most haunted cities in America.
Why do the spirits like it here so much? Maybe because St. Augustine is the nation's oldest city; the ghosts have had centuries to get organized. Maybe it has to do with all the battles fought here in colonial days lots of men giving up the ghost at an early age. Or maybe they like being in a town named after the patron saint of brewers.
Your guide can tell you about the many hauntings reported at the Castillo de San Marcos the unpowered light, the soldier in uniform who reports for duty at dawn and dusk, the inexplicable sensations reported from the dungeon. The lighthouse has a host of haunting stories as well. Then there's Warehouse 31, the Old Prison, the Spanish Military Hospital, the Huguenot Cemetery, the Chapel of Our Lady of La Leche the number of haunted locations is surprising, even unnerving. Stay close to your guide.
People from every corner of the globe have taken this tour, and they all report the same sensation: If they're from Spain, Portugal, Romania, or France, it's hen bumps. If they speak Dutch, Chinese, Finnish, Estonian, Afrikaans, or Korean, it's chicken bumps. Japanese? Bird skin. Hebrew? Duck skin. In Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Greece, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Latvia, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and the U.S., it's goose bumps. Whatever you call them, this tour is chilling.
