Open daily, 365 days a year. Hours: 9 am- 5 pm (April-October); 9 am-4 pm (November-March). Plan to spend at least 3-4 hours for the complete experience.

Tour Participation Requirements
This tour includes admission to the self-guided estate and guided mansion tours. From April to October, you are granted access to Mount Vernon’s distillery and gristmill.
Experience what American life was like during the 18th century on a tour of Mount Vernon. The estate owned by the United States’ first president, George Washington, features his home, gardens, and grounds, all authentically presented and preserved.
Explore the many rooms and spaces throughout Mount Vernon on a self-guided tour. Visit the West Parlor, Central Passage, and Downstairs Bedchamber, all located on the first floor. Take a tour of the Lafayette Bedchamber, named after the French nobleman who volunteered to fight for America’s freedom, on the second floor. Admire the captivating blue textiles and wallpaper of the aptly-named Blue Room located on the second floor.
While you are at Mount Vernon, be sure to check out original artifacts and objects. See Washington’s famous dentures up close and handpicked accessories worn by the President, such as a belt buckle and clothing buttons. You can also examine a hair brooch owned by First Lady Martha Washington. Your tour also lets you explore authentic garments, weapons, and ceramics that are on display at Mount Vernon. Before you leave, walk among the elegantly manicured lawns, trees, and botanical garden for an incredible outdoor experience.
