      About This Washington DC Tour

In the National Mall, it's easy to get lost in the many tributes to American military heroes. But in this tour, the hero is part of the experience.

It's the Duck: a renovated version of the World War II DUKW amphibious truck. First produced by GM in 1942, the hybrid boat/truck ferried troops and supplies from ship to shore at places like Guadalcanal and Sicily; Ike was impressed enough to order more than 2,000 of them for the D-Day invasion and the liberation of Europe.

Today's Duck is the perfect ally to help you conquer D.C., providing a whole new dimension to the city that most people don't experience. Plus it's just a blast. Especially the part where jets zoom right over your head as they land at the airport.

Add that to our two "hop-on, hop-off" routes and you get Washington by land and from the river. Not to mention the fact that you get to hang out with an authentic war hero.

      Quincy's naked Q&A

The first woman to interview a U.S. President was Ann Royall, who, according to legend, earned herself an unplanned sit-down with John Quincy Adams using a rather devious method. Knowing that Adams enjoyed a skinny-dip in the Potomac every morning, Royall went there and sat on his clothes until he answered her questions. Fortunately for the president (and posterity), photography hadn't been invented yet.
