      About This Raiatea Tour

This is a day for all the senses. Eight glorious hours dedicated to sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell. A day with a guide to introduce you to wonderful experiences. And a hostess to add to the comfort of a 30-foot boat.

Few things rival the beauty of the Taha’a coral garden. It's a burst of colorful fish and corals that together create an underwater metropolis. And you get to spy the "residents" as they go about their daily lives.

A different kind of beauty will catch your eye outside the water. Tahiti means black pearls, and the ones grown here are unequalled anywhere else. Be careful or you'll fall under their spell.

No need to wonder why Taha’a is called the Vanilla Island. About 80 per cent of the vanilla produced in Tahiti comes from Taha’a. The sweet aroma is everywhere. And at the motu, your mouth will water long before you taste the incredible Tahitian lunch.

That covers sight, smell, and taste. As for touch and sound, you'll be swimming in warm waters, walking on soft sand, and hearing only the sounds of your vacation.

      It's a sensational day.

      Making a black pearl

Black pearls are much rarer than regular pearls, and with good reason. Pearl farmers must know how to select the very best oysters for grafting (transplanting) with the nucleus that will form the pearl – a delicate operation. The oyster needs at least 18 months before it produces a gem. And the pearl is carefully removed and inspected for roundness. The same oyster can only be used up to three or four times to produce a pearl.
