      Tauranga, New Zealand
      From (USD) $41 Per Adult
      • Luge rides: Shoot down the mountain on a three-wheeled luge, with three tracks of varying difficulty. You get five thrilling rides down, coming back up via chairlift.
      • Gondola ride: Step into the glass-enclosed gondola for a scenic 10-minute ride that rises 1,597 feet to Ngongotaha's Summit. The Maori call it "the Altar of the Gods."
      • Spectacular views: Have your camera ready to capture amazing sights from the gondola and the top of the mountain, including Lake Rotorua and the area's rugged volcanic terrain.

      About This Tauranga Tour

These luge rides are a thrill that will stay with you forever. The three-wheeled vehicle you ride on is part go-cart, part toboggan, and 100 percent exciting, with a unique steering and braking system that makes it easy, safe, and fun.

Choose from three tracks and degrees of difficulty, with six entry points. The Scenic Track is 1.2 miles long, and perfect for beginners and younger children, who can ride with an adult. Everyone wears a helmet, of course. And everyone watches the instruction video before taking off. (Please check for weight and height restrictions.)

The Intermediate ratchets up the intensity on just over a mile of sharp, narrow bends, a tunnel, and some superb views of the lake – if you dare take your eye off the track.

If you're really experienced, take the Advanced Track. It's only a bit longer than a half mile, but the bends, dips, and tunnel are a rush that'll keep a smile on your face all the way down. (Riders must be at least 10 years old and at least 4½ feet tall.)

Your ride up will be nice and scenic; the ride down, an awesome blast. And you get to do it five times.

Half the fun is getting there

Your ride to the top of the mountain is on a state-of-the-art gondola that's extremely stable, even in high winds; it seats eight, and travels at up to 18 miles per hour. The cabin is enclosed in glass, protecting you from the elements while providing amazing opportunities to work on your photography skills.
