Lake Rotorua Jet Boat Ride and Parasailing Combo

      Tauranga, New Zealand
      From (USD) $111 Per Person
      • Jet boat ride: Hop aboard a jet boat for an exhilarating 30-minute ride on Lake Rotorua, powered by a mighty 350 Chevy V8 with a professional driver steering you through a series of head-snapping turns and spins.
      • K-Jet parasailing adventure: Strap in and let the wind lift you skyscraper high, where you'll command a bird's eye view for miles around. You take off and land on the boat's platform, so you'll never have to get wet.
      • Legendary landmarks: See Mokoia Island, the setting for one of Maori culture's most cherished love story of Tutanekai & Hinemoa, and Kawaha Point, where the story of chief Tonohopu's inspiring courage and love of family begins.
      • Sulfur Bay: Get a look at this wild-looking geothermal environment, an alien and barren hellscape of rocky terraces, sulfur ledges, and boiling mud pools –  yet home to some 60 different species of birds.

      About This Tauranga Tour

This is the most fun you can have on the water without getting wet. You'll speed, spin, spray, and take off into space. And while you're doing all that, you'll see a historic island, a legendary point jutting into the lake, and a geothermal landscape that bubbles with stories to tell.

Powered by a throbbing Chevy V8, the jet boat zooms across the water at harrowing speeds, accelerating through harrowing twists and slowing to survey historic landscapes that are the stuff of legend. At Mokoia Island, you'll hear the heart-rending story of two young Maori lovers, one of royal lineage, the other way down on the totem pole. It was the subject of the first movie made in New Zealand, and especially moving – especially when you're moving at 50 mph.

At Kawaha Point the story is not about the love between a boy and a girl, but the bond between a father and his young son – an inspiring tale of courage, commitment, and perseverance that transcends cultural distinctions.

The second part of your adventure definitely puts in the wind back in your sails, soaring 400 feet above the water for a mountaintop perspective of the stunning surrounding landscape and the legends that originated there. You'll have a better view of the dense forests – and the harsh thermal features that the Maori somehow turned into communities where they lived rich and fulfilling lives.

      Smells bad, feels good

Rotorua is nicknamed the Sulfur City for its obvious and strong aroma. The smell of rotten eggs usually slaps visitors on the face when they first get there, but in time, people adjust and life goes on. It's important to note that such springs have been linked to all types of health benefits and medicinal treatments, particularly for skin irritations, arthritis, and all manner of aches and pains.
