About this Iguazu Tour
Nothing will prepare you for the awesome display of roaring falling waters. Catch your breath while you view the overwhelming cascades of the Iguazu Falls on the Argentina-Brazil border. Iguazu comes from the native Guarani language and is translated as "big water." That's probably the greatest understatement you'll ever encounter as you embark on this exciting guided tour on the Argentinian side.
Leaving from the Sheraton Iguazu Resort & Spa, you and your group will travel to the the Visitors Centre, where you will become familiar with the unique background and ecology of this special place. Then, follow your guide on the Paseo Inferior (Lower Circuit). This loop, slightly under a mile in length, takes you right to the Salto Bosetti; enjoy a refreshing spray of steady mist. Then take the 1-mile-long Paseo Superior (Upper Circuit) to view the falls from the top and cross the Iguazu River. These two short hikes not only give you a more complete picture of the falls, but you'll get to witness the beautiful subtropical forest and its indigenous plants and animals. Be on the lookout for monkeys, toucans, parrots, and perhaps even a spotted jaguar or caiman.
Hop aboard the Ecological Jungle Train for more views of the natural habitat. Arrive at the show-stopping Devil's Throat, the horseshoe-shaped display of cascades that roar and rush in a mad torrent. After witnessing Mother Nature's power here, you will understand why Eleanor Roosevelt, upon visiting and seeing Iguazu, famously remarked "Poor Niagara!"
Legend of the fall
According to a Guarani legend, M'Boi, the Serpent God, wanted young Naipi for himself. The tribal beauty, however, wanted Taruba, a real live warrior. M'Boi, being a jealous type, turned Naipi into a rock and Taruba into a tree, separating them with the massive falls you see today. Too bad for M'Boi that the constant rainbow over the falls reunites the young lovers. Technically, the rainbow is caused by the refraction of light against the mist caused by the thundering waters, but let's keep the legend alive.
