About This Punta Arenas Tour
This taste of Chile starts by putting on your apron and rolling up your sleeves. You'll feel right at home as your friendly chef-host introduces the Patagonian kitchen and wastes no time mixing up the national drink – the delicious Pisco Sour. Sip and learn during an adventure full of tasty bites that reveal the art and soul of Chilean cuisine.
Stretching more than 2,600 miles along the Pacific, this country produces a cornucopia of fruits from the sea, earth, and vineyard. Your chef selects the best to make a quintessential meal, guides you in preparing the dishes, and shares easy-to-follow recipes you can take home to share Chile's flavors with family and friends.
You'll learn how to prepare the region's famous lamb barbecue, as your host shows you how to expertly season and cook the meat. And you'll whip up some pebre, the spicy condiment to pair with it. Discover how to make a delicious fruit mousse with berries native to Patagonia. Of course, it takes a little time for that lamb to cook until crisp and succulent – a perfect chance to slip off to the wine cellar.
You'll sample Carmenere, made from the country's signature grape. Chile's warm, sun-drenched valleys are ideal for producing this fruity and spicy wine. It pairs sensationally with that sizzling meat that's just about ready. So take your place at the table, share the joys of the farm's kitchen, and savor the flavors you've created together. Like all the best adventures, this one ends with good company and a wonderful meal.
Cheers to the national drink
The Pisco Sour mixes pisco (a spirit distilled from grape juice) with lemon or lime juice and sugar. Geography dictates whether egg whites and bitters are also included. Why? Both Chile and Peru boast that the Pisco Sour is their national drink, and both claim ownership of its base spirit. Peru even has a public holiday ever year in honor of the cocktail. Once you taste it, you'll agree it should be celebrated. Perhaps even daily.
